Suchitra Sairam is pleased to present a lecture-demonstration on Bharatanatyam as a part of the Midwest Melharmony Festival.

Sponsored by the Wayzata Education Fund, the Melharmony Foundation, and the Wayzata Orchestra Boosters, this event is an opportunity to celebrate and better understand the rich artistic traditions of Southern India and experience the innovation of Melharmony, the blending of Carnatic musical traditions with Western harmonic and orchestral traditions.

Midwest Melharmony Festival Schedule

WHS Auditorium 1

1:00 PM: Welcome and Introduction to the Art Forms of Southern India by Vanitha Suresh, Melharmony Foundation
1:15 PM: Carnatic Vocal Presentations by local and regional professional and student artists
1:45 PM: Carnatic Instrumental Presentations by local and regional professional and student artists

2:15 PM Break (Refreshments and Silent Auction)

WHS Lower Commons

2:30 PM: An introduction to Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, and Bharathantyam forms of Southern Indian classical dance.
3:15 PM: Featured presentation on Bharatanatyam by Suchitra Sairam, Artistic Director of the Kala Vandanam Dance Company

3:45 Break (Refreshments and Silent Auction)

4:00 PM Melharmony Festival Concert featuring the Wayzata High School Camerata, String, and Chamber Orchestras and Guest Artists Chitravina N. Ravikiran, Balaji Chandran, and Sanjay Suresh, joined by Wayzata High School Sinfonia and Intermezzo Orchestra students and the Wayzata Middle Schools’ Chamber Orchestra and Eighth Grade Students
