Toward the end of each year, I ask students to do a reflection of their past year of learning, and set a few goals or intentions for the year to come.
Student – “Is it OK if we have some goals that are secret from you?”
Teacher – “Of course it is, but I’m curious about why you need to keep secrets?”
Student – “Well, it’s more of a surprise goal than a secret one.”
Teacher – “Oh? Who is it a surprise for?”
Student – “Well, both of us.My goal is to practice every day. It would be a surprise for you that I wrote it, and a surprise for me if I did it! SURPRISE!”
Teacher – #mindvoice “Now that is a surprise we could all love.”
